Coronavirus Rising & Officials React Quickly

At Fizer Bonding Company , we’re more than just a reliable place for Robertson and Montgomery County bail bonds (bonding). We are a place where all residents of these counties can answer the question, “where can I find a bail bond near me” and get compassionate and professional 24/7 customer support.   We’re also an active part of our community—even beyond bail bonds. Clarksville, TN and the surrounding areas have been our home base for over thirty-five years. As a family-owned and operated business, we are also a part of the community we serve.

At Fizer Bonding Company, we haven’t been immune to stress and anxiety about COVID-19, either—with coronavirus numbers around the country rising, we share the same fears and concerns of our neighbors, we are especially aware of the new rules declarations in the counties we serve that have been made during the month of November. That’s why we’re here to provide an update on developments in Robertson and Montgomery Counties—when we work together, we keep ourselves and our neighbors safe.

Have COVID-19 numbers been going up?

Unfortunately, yes—in the US, case numbers have continued an upwards trend. The state of Tennessee broke a grim record on November 16 , recording the most new cases reported in a single day—for a total of 7,951 COVID-19 cases. In Montgomery and Robertson Counties, cases have also been climbing during the month of November.

What’s going on in Montgomery County?

After weeks of steadily climbing cases—with the county averaging about 50 cases a day— mayor Jim Durrett extended Montgomery County’s State of Emergency and extended mask mandates to December 11. This order, which went into effect on November 18 and extended a previous mask mandate which had been put in place on October 31and which was set to expire on November 20.

What does this order mean ? People in the county must wear face coverings over their nose and mouth while in public places—that means in businesses, government buildings, schools, and outdoor areas where it’s impossible to keep six feet between people. The county also requires businesses to post signs requiring masks—to offer a reminder and to spread awareness of the importance of wearing masks.

What’s going on in Robertson County?

After cases spiked in early November—reaching about 120 cases per week in Robertson County—mayor Billy Vogle declared a health emergency on November 6 th . At the urging of the governor, local hospitals, and the Tennessee Medical Association, Vogle also re-instituted a mask mandate, which is scheduled to last from November 7 until November 30.

Robertson County’s mask mandate is a bit less specific than Montgomery County’s and lists exemptions for mask-wearing—for example, people who would be unable to remove a mask without help—but notes the importance of community cooperation during this spike in COVID-19 cases.

Does wearing masks really help?

Yes! If you think back on going to a hospital, doctor, or dentist before the pandemic, you’ll likely remember that these medical professionals wear masks—and for good reason. Masks are proven to slow or stop the spread of viruses.

With the outbreak of COVID-19, it’s especially important to slow or stop the spread of the virus within our community. If a lot of people get the virus all at once, hospitals could overflow with Coronavirus patients and not be able to effectively care for each patient. But if we wear masks and work together to slow the spread, our hospitals won’t get a  rush of infected patients at the same time, helping staff better care for each and every patient.

In fact, as far back as 1918—during another pandemic (the Spanish Flu)—people wore masks to help prevent the spread of infection. The good news? Masks today are significantly more effective —partly because we have access to better fabric, and partly because we have access to better information about how and when to wear our masks.

How to help our community stay safe.

Both Vogle and Durrett note the importance of the community working together, especially with the holiday season approaching. Limiting the spread of COVID-19 can help keep businesses, schools, and sports teams up and running—which also helps our local economy.

As the pandemic stretches into its ninth month, and with the holidays approaching, it’s not uncommon to see pandemic fatigue setting in. What does that mean? Back in March, when all the rules were new, it was easy to be on high alert. But now, we’ve been on high alert for so long that our brains and our nerves are getting tired. Frustration runs high as holiday plans are thrown into question and working and learning happen from home. We would all love to go back to the old days and resume our “normal lives”. But now we have to deal with a new normal.

But even as we get worn out, it’s important to keep up mask-wearing and social distancing. When we do these things, we are shortening the time it will take to put our face masks away in the drawer and hopefully not see them again for a very long time. We are also preventing our hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic facilities from being over crowded and protecting our doctors, nurses, clinicians and essential front line workers.

It also means that we’re protecting each other—that includes working adults, children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems. When you take steps to be safe, even if it feels like a hassle, you’re protecting your own family and the families around you.

Where can I get tested for the Coronavirus?

If you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms? You can get a free test ! COVID-19 tests are provided free of charge by the Montgomery County Health Department on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Civitan Park, located at 650 Bellamy Lane. The Robertson County Health Department has testing at the Robertson County Health Department located at 800 South Brown Street.

Law and Order is a popular TV show that is still shown in reruns, but the subject on the TV show usually has little to do with law and order.
